WANTED: Belmont Shores Kitesurfing buddy
|
2/19/08 5:50 AM
So I was at Belmont Shores on Presidents Day with a non-kitesurfer to help me launch. (I wasn't going in the water... just practicing flying my kite on the sand.) Needless to say, it was a complete disaster! I learned my lesson: beginners should always have a kitesurfing buddy that's a fellow kitesurfer.... who understands the dangers and wind and urgency of not letting the kite get in certain positions, lest you want to be launched accross the sand. Anyways, if anyone is interested in a riding buddy(preferably another girl like myself) I'm available Friday and Sunday afternoons and some Saturdays. My goal is to get decent before Memorial Day when it starts getting crowded. Oh... and I'm a beginner: I started flying this summer some but never went in the water. I'm still working on feeling confident on the sand. And my instructor told me to wait awhile before venturing in the water....improving my kite handling skills. Fine with me... I'm waiting to get a wetsuit first. At the end of the summer I was able to let the kite drag me on the sand & feeling somewhat confident, but then when I went for the first time this year, yesterday (2-18-08), I seemed to have forgotten a lot of it.... of course it wasn't until I was deflating my kite that I realized that I forgot to pump up the last two (small) chambers with air... maybe that's part of the reason it was such a disaster! haha. ;-) So if anyone is interested in riding, let me know. I'll take whoever I can get... just be warned that I'm a beginner. Oh... and I was advised to practice on the east side of the pier at Belmont shores. Email me if you're interested. joy2theworld8@hotmail.com Sorry for the verbose post. Oh... and please put something with "kitesurfing or kitesurfer" in the email title... I have a high filter on my email account.
Thanks. ~joy
